Director's Interview from The Guardian with Nick Love

I decided to upload this interview on to my blog, because i admire Nick Love's work as a director. He also specialises in making films of the same genre to my teaser trailer film. He directed films such as The Football Factory (2004) and The Firm (2009).

I found this video very insightful, as i was able to pick up useful tips for my own product. I took a lot of notice to what Nick Love says about really capturing the authenticity, with regards to the clothing and general culture of football firms, and being very precised to detail. I've taken this tip on board from the beginning of the project, by being very specific about what type of clothing i want to use, and showing my research of the 80's culture through my mood board.

I was also interested about Nick Love's theory on fight scenes aswell, this is the main complication that came up when i first had this idea, because it would be difficult to stage a brawl that looked as realistic as in real football violence films. I picked up the tip of staging the fight scenes from far away, rather than trying to get close ups of physical contact.

Production Update

I'm underway with my filming at the moment, but i've come across complications with my storyline. The main complication is that i am struggling with setting my trailer in the 1980's, as everything is so modern. It's been impossible filming certain scenes because there are too many modern things that pop up.

So to combat this issue i've decided to change my trailer from being a period drama set in the 80's, to being a modern crime drama, which is based around the 80's football casual culture. This won't disrupt my filming too much, as the footage contains the modern elements that i was trying to avoid in the first instance.
By changing the genre, it's made it easier and more convenient for me to finish my filming.
